What is CKBB2018?
CKBB stands for Chappell Karate Basket Brigade and 2018 stands for this year. The Basket Brigade began as a community outreach of Chappell’s Family Karate & Jujitsu in 2005 and then became a 501c3 non-profit organization in 2012. When we closed the karate school in 2013, the Basket Brigade continued. Basket stands for a “basket” (or box) of food. A definition of “Brigade” is a group of persons organized for a specific purpose.
CKBB2018 is an all-day community event that is scheduled for Dec. 22, at the OWO (Osborne Warren Oden) Rec. Center, 906 Roberts Court in Hartselle, beginning at 11am. The leaders of CKBB and volunteers will meet to sort and package food (roasting pans, turkeys, drinks, vegetables, stuffings, rolls, pies, cards, and most importantly, Bibles) into boxes. Once that task is completed, the food boxes will be loaded onto trucks and trailers, and then delivered to families all over north Alabama!
What an honor, privilege, and blessing it is to do this for our communities! Widows, the elderly, military veterans, and families with children are our primary focus!
Monetary donations as well as non-perishable in-date items (canned green beans, corn, boxed stuffings, and large roasting pans) are being accepted now.
To donate monetarily, mail a tax-deductible check to:
